26 February 2008 /International Bureau / Statement No: 30

The 23 communists who had been arrested in police raids carried out in 8 cities against our party MLCP from September 8-12, 2006 are going to be taken to court yet another time on February 28 and 29. The communists will convict fascism once more.
With executions on the street, arrests and detentions and its operations in South and Northern Kurdistan, the colonial fascist Turkish state tries to stop the Kurdish people's struggle for freedom. On the other hand, it usurps the social rights won by the working class and labourers with neo-liberal laws and privatisation attacks. The working class and labourers answer these attacks with strikes and resistance. The Kurdish people defend the guerrilla and resist against the annihilation and denial policy of the Turkish state. The revolutionaries and communists who are the leaders of the working class and labourers' fight against fascism and capitalism are facing arrests, detentions, torture and murder attacks by the Turkish fascist dictatorship, and they continue with the fight when being imprisoned by the fascist state.
The 23 communists, who had been imprisoned during September 8-12, 2006 and who are wanted to be sentenced to 3000 years, have also been targeted with these attacks. The state forces announced that the communists arrested in the raids which were carried out after launching the new "anti-terror law" in June 2006 are members of the MLCP. They also announced that with these operations, our party MLCP was destroyed. However, the growing solidarity with the communists and socialists in Turkey and Northern Kurdistan as well as internationally; and the struggle that continues in the prisons, factories, suburbs and streets against fascism and capitalism have been an answer to these lies of fascism. The exposure of the Turkish fascist dictatorship by the 23 communists during the trial on October 26, 2007 and their shouting out of their dreams of revolution and socialism once more proved that hope and struggle can't stopped with these attacks.
On February 28-29, 2008 the communist prisoners will once again convict the colonial fascist dictatorship and the capitalist exploiting barbaric system in the name of the working class and the labourers.
This is a big act to defend revolution and socialism. Sending greeting messages to the prisoners, sending protest letters to the Turkish state and organising solidarity actions and activities in different countries mean defending the imprisoned communists and defending the dream of revolution and socialism and the proletarian ideology. With these actions the lies of imperialist bourgeoisie that socialism has died could be exposed.
We call on the world proletariat and the oppressed people, their revolutionary, progressive and communist parties and organisations to stand up for the communists behind bars in Turkey and Northern Kurdistan.
