Peoples Democratic Congress’s 4th regular and People’s Democratic Party’s second extraordinary congress were realized on 21 and 22 June consecutively.

These two organizations are the frontal unity of the democratic Kurdish national movement, revolutionary/progressive /communist parties, trade-unions, democratic mass organizations, feminists, ecologists, lesbians-gays, oppressed peoples and beliefs. HDP is HDK ’s party branch. These congresses are the first congresses after the decision of Kurdish democratic national movement party’s ( BDP ) deputies and it’s mass base in the Turkish parts of Turkey to participate in HDP. Since its creation up to the present day the role of HDK-HDP has been characterized as frontal democratic movement.

As the HDK’s program is adapted to HDP, parties and individuals form an alliance based on the same programme, allthough not on base of the same ideology. This programme is a consequent democratic programme and suitable for a democratic front. Those who form HDK and HDP have agreed on that programme. But this is not the main aspect of the question. The question is if HDP can be transformed to a massive party? At the beginning, HDP was declared to serve as a branch of HDK for the elections only. But it seems that in the new situation, HDP will continue as massive party. It is necessary to judge this issue considering the question whether this will hinder the development or not. HDK/HDP hold meetings together and get decisions. HDP's discipline binds it to the decisions taken together. A massive HDP is not an obstacle for a functioning HDK. On the contrary if HDP grows more and more massive, HDK can use its force.

The main purpose of HDP/HDK is to form a democratic center in the massive actions of working class and during their elections campaign. This goal will not be reached all at once, but through small and big, fast and slow steps forward in several struggles. In this fight self-consciousness, playing an avant-garde role and revolutionary mass work will be crowned with success. Success can only be ensured by applicating a working method appropriate to a revolutionary party. Nevertheless one mustn't fall into spontaneity and carelessness only because HDP and HDK's creation correspond to the unity tendency of the masses. This will not lead to a growing militancy of HDK and HDP by itself.

That way the growing fascist attacks of AKP will be repelled, the diversionary tactics at the Kurdish peace process will remain insignificant and furthermore an organization, able to guarantee a growing mass movement's continuity, will be created.

HDP/HDK needs to walk on this way with insistence. They have declared to form an independent democratic force during the state president elecetions and to higher their resolution in leading the masses' actions and movements.

Two aspects the democratic and revolutionary forces in Turkey's west expect from HDK and HDP will come true depending on the successes reached druing this work.

Firstly: HDK and HDP have the task to draw the opressed masses in the west into the struggle and thereby organize them in their ranks. Does the concentration of cadres and masses inhibit this? Obivously kurdish-democratic movement's leader has proposed such a unified front in order to create a huge upswing of the masses' democratic struggle in the west. This is also why he ensured its foundation without further difficulties. HDK and HDP have to base their working methods on self-consciousness and resolution to organize struggles concerning all the democratic, economical, ecological and social demands, which are also demands of the Kurdish-democratic movement. If this can be realized the cadres and sympathizers of the Kurdish movement will also experience this enthusiasm and start to work in the new consciousness formed by this development.

Secondly: HDK and HDP have to develop their political line using political autonomous democratic mecanisms. These are strongly expected and desired. Each step in this direction will push the development forward.

May HDK and HDP go through positive developments and conquer successes because the unified revolutionary movement of our peoples needs this. They are not only necessary for Turkey and Northern Kurdistan but also for the whole Middle East.
