On the third anniversary of her immortality, the communist Kutsiye Bozoklar (Isik Kutlu) was commemorated in many places of Turkey, Northern Kurdistan and in Europe.{divide}
In Istanbul 200 people gathered in a cafe in Taksim in order to commemorate the communist and writer Isik Kutlu and our comrade Huseyin Demircioglu, CC member of our party MLCP who became immortal during the death fast action in 1996. Next to reports about her life and struggle a video film about her was shown, music played and poems written by her presented. Besides various books especially her weekly articles in a newspaper have influenced whole generations of revolutionaries and show them a way in countless questions of revolutionary life and struggle without stopping at borders of different revolutionary organisations. Her poem "to be alive means to resist" expresses her determined and full of hope attitude towards life; she was and is a light in the darkness and the revolutionaries will not stop to learn from her and her writings.
In Ankara, a memorial act took place for Isik Kutlu at the cementry Karsiyaka, where she is burried. After a minute of silence people told about her life and her role in the revolutionary struggle. Slogans like "Comrade Kutsiye is immortal" were shouted and it was emphasized that she was a communist intelecctual who dedicated her whole life to revolution and socialism.
In Europe also memorial acts were organised, among others in the cities Mannheim, Ulm and Basel.
