On April 27, students protested against the increasing fascist attacks at the Marmara University before Mayday. The students stated that the rectory of the university is responsible for the attacks because the fascist attacks started after the rectory allowed a memorial act for the leader of the civil fascists Alparslan Turkes on April 24. The students did not take the leaflets distributed by the civil fascist and then were attacked. Moreover, the students said that the fact of allowing a memorial act 21 days after the anniversary of the death of Turkes is nothing but a provocation in order to prevent the student´s participation in the Mayday demonstration, but they made clear that this plan will not work. {divide}
The students organised a mass rally starting from the Goztepe campus and ending in Kadikoy, where frequently slogans like "Goztepe will be the grave of fascism", "long live revolutionary solidarity" and "Long live Mayday, biji yek gulan" were shouted. After reading out a statement they opend banners and posters and started the demonstration blocking the traffic.
Organisations like TTB and Egitim-Sen supported the demonstration by sending representatives.
