15 of the thousands of political prisoners accused of affiliation to KCK , including Ragip Zarakolu, the owner of the publishing house "Belge", and Songul Karatagna, correspondent of the newspaper "Ozgur Gundem", have been set free on a trial on April 10. 193 people are being tried in the context of the same file called "KCK Istanbul", which accuses Prof. Dr.Busra Ersanlı for "leadership of a terrorist organisation" and Publisher Zarakolu for "gaining people to send to the mountains for terrorist activities". BusraErsanlı is still in prison. They were arrested together with more than 50 people on October 28, 2011. The trial against all will continue.
In Hakkari, 6 people including Hamdiye Ciftci have been set free on the same day, too. They were all arrested in June 2010 within the framework of the "Hakkari axis" of the KCK file. The trial against them continues.
With these releases, the number of the imprisoned journalist decreased to 91 on the one hand, but on the other hand new operations are on the agenda.{divide}
Again on the 10th of April, a new wave of arrest has been carried out by the Istanbul police as a continuation of the operations following the Newroz celebrations. The police arrested 17 people, among them again a journalist, CagdasKucukbattal, correspondent of the news agency ETHA, who was present at the celebrations for video-documentation.
