Secondary school students increase their actions against the exams of the electing-selecting education system and against the draft law of AKP commonly known as 4+4+4.
On March 24, the Union of Secondary School Students ( LOB ) made a march at the Halitaga Street in Kadikoy, where there are many private institutions giving courses for preparation for the university exams. The LOB members shouted the slogans "Equal, gratis, scientific education in the mother tongue!", "4+4+4 into the garbage, pupils on the streets for freedom!" and "Down with the obligatory religion classes!". {divide}In their statement, they stressed that the AKP government, under the pretext of increasing the length of obligatory education, tries to categorise the primary education as 4+4+4 in order to shape the youth according to its own ideological and political aims. They said that such categorisation will open the way for infant labour and also it will cause that the families take their daughters from schools at an earlier age, which will increase illiteracy among women. They said: "In case that the primary education will be oriented to profession-choosing after the first 4 years, the weight of the private courses in education will grow even further and the educational costs will multiply. With 4+4+4, the secondary grade religious profession schools will be reopened".
On March 24, the students of the NuriCingillioglu Secondary School in Atasehir/Istanbul flied a banner with flying-balloons on which the slogan "No to the exams, yes to life!" was written, during the Turkish national anthem on Friday ceremony.
In Adana, secondary school students made an action at the Inonu Square under the slogan "We rebel to smash the wall of exams!" They also raised their protest against the draft law 4+4+4.
