Long March ended with tens of thousands in Strasbourg

After 18 days and more than 400 km of marching under icy temperatures, the long march for political Status for the Kurdish people and Freedom for Ocalan of more than 200 people ended on February 18 with a mass meeting in Strasbourg. With more than 60 thousand participants coming from several European countries like Belgium, Netherlands, France, Italy and Germany, the meeting became one of the biggest protest actions of the last years against the extradition to Turkey of the national Kurdish leader Ocalan on February 15, 1999.
The activists of the long march, among them also comrades of our party MLCP, marched in the front lines of the demonstration starting from the railway station followed by a sea of flags of KCK , KJB, PJAK , many pictures of Ocalan as well as flags in red and the Kurdish colours of tens of thousands.{divide}
Besides the broad masses of the Kurdish freedom movement, Partizan, Revolutionary Front, Communist party of Kurdistan, SKB, Rote Antifa, DIDF and others also participated with their own banners and flags. Our party MLCP joined the demonstration with more than 200 activists frequently shouting slogans in Kurdish, Turkish and French like "More and more uprisings, freedom for Kurdistan", "Long live the international solidarity of the peoples", "Comrade Yasemin is immortal" and "MLCP, PKK , forward to the united front". Especially the dynamic participation of the young communists of our youth organisation KGO attracted the attention of the masses.
At the final meeting, speeches of the president of Kongra-Gel Remzi Kartal, Mahmut Sakar, one of the lawyers of Abdullah Ocalan, the president of KNK Tahir Kemalizade, the Diyarbakir MP of the BDP Emine Ayna and in the name of the demonstrators of the long march were made among others.
A representative of our party MLCP also addressed the meeting from the stage beginning his speech saluting the masses with the revolutionary will and spirit of MLCP figther Yasemin Ciftci. Exposing the attitude of the US and EU imperialists giving silent support to the use of chemical weapons and civil massacres in Kurdistan as well as banning Roj TV because of the truth it is showing, he continued saying that the long march and the mass meeting is a strong answer to the continuing total attack of the colonialist fascist regime in Turkey and at the same time showing the way leading to March 8, Newroz and Mayday. Furthermore, a video message of Murat Karayilan, president of the Executive Board of KCK, videos of Abdullah Öcalan and the Kurdish guerilla were shown at the meeting.
During the whole demonstration and the final meeting, our martyr Yasemin Ciftci was present through slogans, posters with her picture, leaflets and words of commemoration in different speeches from the stage.
