ESP members sentenced to 80 years of prison

On February 3, the 10th Court of Heavy Crimes in Izmir sentenced 5 persons to long prison penalties of 80 years in total claiming that they are "members and leaders of MLCP". Hulya Gercek, provincial chairwoman of Istanbul and vice chair of the ESP , Meliha Kayaci, provincial chair of Izmir of the ESP and Gorgu Demirpence, member of the party assembly of the ESP have been sentenced to 12 years each. Vahap Bicici and Aydin Akyüz, two members of the ESP, who have been released recently from prison, were sentenced to 22 years each. {divide}
At the same day, Hulya Gercek was detained at the street in Aksaray, Istanbul and sent to prison. Furthermore, the police raided the houses of those sentenced in Izmir.
On February 4, protest actions took place in Istanbul, Eskisehir and Izmir. In Istanbul, Kadikoy the ESP protested against the court decision and the imprisonment of Hulya Gercek under the slogan "You are not strong enough, we will win". In Izmir, the ESP organized a protest action supported also by HDK , Alinteri, Halk Cephesi and Partizan in Kemeralti against the court decision and the house raids under the same slogan.
