On the 11th anniversary of the prison massacre from 19-22 December 2000 the revolutionaries and progressive forces in different places of Turkey and Europe protested against isolation and asked account for the massacre taking place simultaneously in 20 prisons resulting in the assassination of 28 revolutionary prisoners, dozens of wounded prisoners and their deportation to the F-type isolation prisons. {divide}
In Istanbul, the Platform of Struggle against Isolation (TKMP) organized a meeting on December 19 in front of the prison Bayrampasa under the slogan "Asking account for the massacre and commemorating the martyrs". The MP of the BDP Sirri Sureyya Onder as well as former prisoners who eye-witnessed the massacre also participated in the meeting. After different speeches a sketch was performed by the Idil Theatre group followed by singing "Ciao Bella" by Grup Yorum, Kutup Yildizi and Pinar Sag. The action ended by leaving flowers at the prison doors in memory of the prisoners killed at the massacres.
In Izmir, Alinteri B DSP , Devrimci Hareket, DHF , ESP , Kaldırac and Partizan organized a joint demonstration in the district Karsiyaka on December 18. The action was supported by Koz, DİP and the Front of Labour and Freedom. Moreover, a meeting in front of the prison of Buca took place on December 19.
In Europe, different acts took place in France, Germany and Belgium. In Cologne, a panel discussion was organized on the occasion of the anniversary of the massacre, in Anvers a memorial act was organized and in Paris a demonstration took place.
