Operations against KCK target the intellectuals, too

Within the context of the military and political war concept of the Turkish bourgeois state and the AKP government, intellectuals and writers are added to the list of those arrested under the allegation of being members of KCK . Thousands of members and leaders of BDP and other Kurdish organisations as well was elected mayors from BDP are kept in prison and the number of the prisoners is rapidly growing through new waves of arrest. After the oaths of revenge of President Gul and the Prime Minister threatening those who are in solidarity with the Kurdish freedom movement following the Cukurca action, Büsra Ersanlı was arrested on October 28 and Ragip Zarakolu on October 29.{divide} Prof. Dr. Busra Ersanlı is an academician of the Marmara University and member of the Commission for a New Constitution of BDP. Writer and publisher Ragip Zarakolu is the owner of the important leftist publishing house Belge and the president of the Commissionfor Freedom of Publishing of the Publisher's Union of Turkey. This act of the fascist dictatorship is an intimidation against all intellectuals forcing them not to show any kind of solidarity with the Kurdish movement.
CGD , TDGP and IHD issued statements demanding immediate freedom to Zarakolu and Ersanli.
ESP also made a statement demand the release of all KCK prisoners, among them Zarakolu, Ersanli and Didem Arda, president of SGD Istanbul who was arrested at a house raid against BDP activists.
SGDF made an action on October 30 in Galatasaray Square, Istanbul and demanded the immediate release of Didem Arda saying that the state tries to shut down the voice of intellectuals and socialists in Turkey who demand peace.
