Several actions and calls upon the Turkish workers and labourers for peace were made by different revolutionary and democratic organisations in face of the growing racist provocations produced after the Martyr Cicek Revolutionary Operation by PKK . {divide}
On October 22, ESP members gathered in the Taksim Square in Istanbul under the banner read "Turkish people: Stand up and take to the streets for peace!" In their statement, the ESP members expressed that the responsible ones for the death of 26 soldiers in Cukurca is the AKP government who insist on so-called solutions to the Kurdish question by means of military methods. They stated that the demand for peace must be raised in the streets instead of racist slogans.
In Ankara, the ESP members took to the streets for peace. They made a sit-in action in front of the Human Rights Monument in Yuksel Street. Several democratic organisations, among them SES , SDP and 78liler supported the action.
On October 19, the DISK made a written statement demanding immediate measures for a democratic solution to the Kurdish question.
The Adana Branch of Egitim-Sen , the Machine Engineers' Chamber affiliated to TMMOB , ODP , IHD , TIHV and Mazlum-Der were among the democratic organisations which issued written statements calling for peace after the Cukurca action.
