Mass demonstration against the government in Ankara

On October 8, nearly 60 thousands workers and labourers coming from the 81 provinces of Turkey participated in the march organized by DISK , KESK , TTB and TMMOB in Ankara under the motto "democratic and free Turkey for a humane life". The workers, youth, women, civil servants, anti-imperialists and revolutionaries protested against the policy of the AKP government representing the bourgeois Turkish state including the seizure of the severance pay, privatization of education and health, not providing the right of collective agreements, outsourcing, unemployment, assassination of women, construction of Hydroelectric Power Stations (HPS) and the anti-missile shield.{divide}
Starting from the Ankara train station, the masses reached the Sihhiye square after hours of marching and shouting slogans like "long live class solidarity", "the unity of the works will defeat the capital", "where is Turk-Is , the opposition is here", "we will not be a shield for Israel", "workers, civil servants, hand in hand towards the strike".
Besides M.P.s from the BDP , the Labour, Peace and Democracy Block and the CHP , several oppositional trade-unionists, political parties, organizations and associations participated in the meeting. Among them were also BDP, ÖDP, EMEP , TKP, DHF , Halk Cephesi, ESP , EHP , SDP , Socialist Party, SGD , Students Opposition, Students Collectives, People´s Houses, IHD and platforms fighting against the anti-missile shield in Kürecik, farmers fighting against the construction of HPS in Findikli and Gerze. Especially the high participation of Egitim Sen, first of all from the Kurdish provinces, Birlesik Metal-Is and TMMOB was remarkable.
Furthermore, the members of the student's trade-union Genc-Sen , which has been closed down recently, participated in large numbers saying "we have founded our union on the street and there we will defend it".
