10 revolutionaries who were killed in an operation against the Ulucanlar Prison in September 26, 1999 were commemorated in several cities.
In Istanbul, TUYAB members organised a commemoration in the Karacaahmet Cemetery, in front of the grave of Umit Altinbas, one of the fallen revolutionaries. The participants stressed in their speeches that the Ulucanlar Operation was one of the important bloody massacres of the bourgeois Turkish state and was a rehearsal for the transition to the F-type prisons through the most bloody operation of the prison's history in the region on December 19 , 2000 .
In Adana, members of various revolutionary and democratic organisations, among them the ESP , DHF , IHD and Revolutionary Proletariat, gathered in the Inonu Square for commemoration on September 27.
