The pretext of the on-going war on Kurdistan is presented as the PKK attack in Cukurca/Hakkari where 9 Turkish soldiers were killed. However, the start of the operations was given right after the Security Summit on August 4, participated by the Prime Minister Erdogan, the new Chief of the General Staff Necdet Ozel, respective ministers, generals of the army and the chiefs of the police and intelligence services. This meeting was realised on the same day where the Superior Military Council finished its meeting as a result of which Necdet Ozel became the new chief of the general staff. {divide}
On August 16, general Necdet Ozel and commanders-in-chief of the armed forces paid a courtesy visit to Prime Minister Erdogan. The last decision for the cross-border air attacks was made there.
Necdet Ozel became the chief of the general staff in accordance with the interest of the AKP government. This process of change in the armed forces is presented by the national and international bourgeois media as "a step of civilisation of Turkey". Just a few days after this, a video containing a military operation with chemical weapons commanded by Necdet Ozel against a PKK guerrilla group was published by the Kurdish TV channel Roj TV. Since this kind of act has been strictly forbidden by the Geneva Protocol, it has been thus clear that Necdet Ozel is an international war criminal. As expected, no legal process has been started about this. Instead, the Turkish colonialist lead by Necdet Ozel continues with massacres and war crimes against the Kurdish people.
