400 metal workers locked themselves into the factory Bekaert in Kocaeli to resist against the dismissal of 9 workers. After a workers' strike in the metal sector, 9 workers from the Bekaert factory were fired on May 4 under the pretexts of "to much leave of absence", "frequent absence" and "inadaptability". The representative of the trade union Birlesik Metal-Is Kocaeli branch informed that the resistance will continue until the 9 workers are taken back to work. He stated that all the workers stay, eat and sleep in the factory and are determined in their resistance. He also stressed that the workers' families also come to the front of the factory to give support to the workers.{divide}
