 At the beginning of January, in Mutki (a settlement in Kurdistan) with applications by IHD and residents excavation were started in which mass graves were found. In the first mass grave the bones of 9 civilians and 3 PKK guerrillas were found. In further excavation, the bones of 8 more PKK guerrillas were found. It has been announced that the bones of the nine civilians found in the first excavation belongs to 17 to 20-year-olds who were on their way to become guerrilla in 1999. {divide}
During the same period mass graves were found in Gercüş and Dersim-Çemiskezek.
The Bitlis representative of IHD, Hasan Ceylan, said that only in Bitlis more than 100 mass graves have been reported. Again in Siirt, Kasaplar Deresi mass graves which contain the bones of 200 people have been reported by locals.
The colonialist fascist regime have denied for years the dirty and dark massacres, the disappearances while in custody, the extra-judicial killings, mass and secret graves. However they have once again been caught red handed with the excavations. Still the government and generals keep quite and uninterested in the truth which has emerged with the discovery of the mass graves. Just like the denial of the Armenian, Kurdish and Alevi massacres and genocides.
Consequently, it is out for everyone to see that the suggestion of A. Öcalan and the BDP to form a "Commission to Research the Truth" has been denied by the AKP government and parliament as a political strategy to keep the crimes against humanity as secret as possible.
