The 78 days resistance of the TEKEL workers, which started in Ankara against the 4-C implementation (According to article 4-C of the Law for State Officials No. 657 "temporary employees who due to privatisation are transferred to other enterprises and firms" many of the TEKEL workers get the status of "temporary contract workers") and for the demand of save work, entered a new stage. The TEKEL workers, who lived for 35 days in tents, announced at their forth demonstration at the Taksim square in Istanbul that they will continue the struggle with new means. {divide}
Saying that the struggle is not over but continuing against the 4-C implementation the TEKEL workers stated that joining in a second resistance with other forces they will continue their struggle.
Metin Arslan, one of the leaders of the resistance in Ankara, said "we are initiating a process of united struggle against 4-C, which is a form of the exploitation by the capital and the AKP government, and other forms of flexible work." The TEKEL workers demanding guarantee of work, work as staff worker and a wage which with one can live, were supported by BDP , DIK, TIB, B DSP , Peoples Fronti, resister Turkan Albayrak, Revolutionary Workers Movement, TIB resister Zeynel Kizilaslan and many intellectuals and musicians.
Arslan called upon the political parties and trade unions, first of all DISK , KESK , TTB and TMMOB saying "let us unite the struggle, let us put up a programme of action against work without any guarantee. Let us, the TEKEL workers, also become a part of this struggle." They made clear that if no programme of action will be put up and no struggle will be started, they will apply new forms of struggle, among them also hunger strike, on the first day after the Bayram.
