376 organisations, among them DISK , KESK , IHD , Istanbul Medical Chamber, Istanbul Initiative for the Peace Assembly of Turkey moved for a peaceful solution of the Kurdish question. In a speech hold in the name of the organisations which gathered in Istanbul,
Hakan Tahmaz, member of the Peace Assembly of Turkey stated frequently that they have made several meetings about the Kurdish question, but for the first time with such a broad number of participating organisations.
Stating that they are aiming at work for a solution, Tahmaz said: "We hope, that this process, which started at a level of breaking the hopes will evolve by those responsible into a process of a lasting solution and the lasting silence of the weapons. Therefore, we came together in order to establish a common will. I hope this work will be a precondition for everybody to take off the fingers from the trigger. "
After the speeches, the demands for a solution signed by 376 organisations were read out. In brief, they said that it is high time to demand a democratic and just solution, that it has to be adopted that there is a problem existing and that they believe that a solution may be achieved by a discussion of all sides at every level. They underlined that after 26 years of clashes the process of coming together has to be based in respect, fraternity, freedom, democracy, justice and equality to create a social unity.
