The first ones entering Taksim Square were nearly 50 TEKEL workers from Izmir. The workers carried banners read "The 138th day of our resistance" and a banner read "Hamdullah Uysal is immortal". TEKEL workers, who have contributed with their resistance a lot to the increase in the workers movement that opened the way for the celebration of Mayday at Taksim Square, hindered Mustafa Kumlu, the General President of Turk-Is , from making a speech when he took the stage during the meeting. Kumlu had to hide in the building of AKM near the stage.
