Women organisations met in the centre of Istanbul in the Istiklal Caddesi in Taksim opening a photo exhibition showing the means of violence and telling the stories of women who experienced violence. Afterwards, more than 200 women started a demonstration shouting slogans and stating in a speech that violence against women is a result of the patriarchal system and not just single cases or coincidence.
In Ankara, the women were exposed to a police attack. The police attacked the women who wanted to start their demonstration with gas bombs and truncheons trying to impede the march. However, the women defeated the attack and continued their demonstration. At the demonstration which lasted for four hours slogans were shouted in Turkish and Kurdish.
