The Socialist Economical Congress organised on October 3 by the Nazim Hikmet Marxist Sciences Academy in Istanbul against the IMF was attended by economists from Turkey and abroad as well as international guests. {divide}
In the first part of the congress called "IMF policies, global crisis and global destruction" it was said that the crisis had started in 2007 in the imperialist USA and then expanded to the whole world at the end of 2008; and that the IMF has been the financer of the war carried out against the Kurdish people for 25 years. At the second part the international guests held speeches. Vincenzo Cinque who talked in the name of the Fighting Workers' Union from Italy told that they struggle against the results of the economic crisis with an antiemperyalist organisation called "Block of the people". Anne Wilhelm from the MLPD from Germany held a speech on the subject "Woman and crisis". Giorgos Tsipras, representing the Communist Organisation of Greece (KOE), explained that the revolt in Greece in 2008 had not been only against the murder of a young man by the police but was the burst of the labourer people's rage against the neo-liberal attacks. In the speech held in the name of Nazim Hikmet Marxist Sciences Academy, it was said that crisis are a part of capitalism and that they will always happen in this system. It was also said that the liberation of the workers and labourers could only be realised with the smash of capitalism and establishing socialism.
At the congress topics such as "Global crisis, the labour movement and alternatives" and "What must be done" were discussed, too. In the final statement it was underlined that a human life could only go hand in hand with socialism.
