The peace actions and activities organised by the Women's Initiative for Peace continued with the Peace Festival that took place in Macka Park in Istanbul.
The women, which started their peace watch at the high plateau Bercelan of Hakkari directly at the border on August 8, cried out the demand of peace and a just and honourable solution of the Kurdish question also in different cities at actions and activities.
On August 23, a peace festival was organized in the Macka Park of Istanbul. In the statement of the Women's Initiative read in Kurdish and Turkish, it was stated "We all need peace, most of all we as women. Because we know best what violence means. The patriarchate promotes war and militarism. We are exposed to violence in all areas of life, day and night, at home, at work or in the street. We are exposed to the exploitation of labour." The women raised the demand to end the assimilation policy of negation and annihilation against the Kurdish people and made clear that the Women's Initiative for Peace is also an address of the peace demand. The festival continued until late hours with dances and songs.
