After meetings in Diyarbakir and Ankara, the Coordination Initiative of Women for Peace finally organized the "peace watch at ground zero" at the high plateau Bercelan of Hakkari.{divide} The high plateau Bercelan is directly - at zero distance - at the border with Iraq (Southern Kurdistan) and for a long time the army prohibits access to civil persons. With this meeting of nearly 2000 women, this ban has actually been punctured. The women coming from the four corners of Turkey and Kurdistan in order to participate in the meeting were welcomed with the words "You came here to cry out for peace on the free mountains. It will not be in vain. Welcome to all of you". At the place of actions they put up banners saying "the more women, the more democracy", "Jin jiyan azadi" ("Woman, Life, Freedom" in Kurdish). The women lighted fires, sang songs, talked and danced until dawn. Next to many speeches also music groups were part of the program at the peace watch. In the speeches it was mentioned that many people already became martyrs in the freedom fight of the Kurdish people by saying "Those who are not longer with us now are watching us from the sky". In the morning the women went to Hakkari and planted saplings for peace there.
