Genc-Sen activists protest against university fees

During the meeting of the cabinet students coming from different provinces gathered in front of the prime ministry house in Ankara in order to protest against the plan to increase the university fees by 8% - 500%. The students submitted a file to the cabinet and protested in the streets of Ankara.{divide}
The students met at Kizilay Square and marched altogether to the new prime ministry house. They demanded an appointment and were taken under siege by the police, but a delegation of 3 members of Genc-Sen could enter the building. When it turned out that the meeting of the cabinet was not hold in the building, the students demanded to see the Minister of Education, but the authorized persons did not accept this demand. The students returned to the Guven Park near Kizilay and continued their protest action there. The students formed a new delegation in order to meet the Minister of Education and this delegation left the crowd. In front of the prime ministry house, they were attacked by the police with gas bombs. 14 members of Genc-Sen were detained. At the same time, the police also attacked the people protesting in the Guven Park. It was stated that female members of Genc-Sen had been sexually harassed while being in police detention. At the police station, the Genc-Sen activists were forced to undress and also in the moment of detention they were harassed by the police.
Genc-Sen stated that resulting to the actions organised by them in many cities, the government increased the fees only by 8%. The students did not accept this increase also and announced that they will continue to be on the street shouting slogans like "do not increase the fees but the salaries" and "we will not permit that fees are increased".
