In Istanbul, families from the TAYAD gathered in front of the Court of Sultanahmet opening a banner written "Isolation kills! In Antakya, the TAYAD organised an action at Ulus Square. A banner written "Freedom for cancer patient Guler Zere!" was opened and her photos were carried at the action.
The demonstrators shouted the slogans "Stop isolation in prisons!" and "Freedom for Guler Zere!" at both actions.
Guler Zere has been in prison for 14 years. She was a survivor of the prison massacre of December 19 , 2000 . In 2008, it was diagnosed that she has a mouth cancer that has also spread to her head. A campaign was started under the slogan "Freedom for Guler Zere!" demanding that she should be set free taking into consideration that she is kept in prison despite that her illness grows worse.
