The trial started at the Heavy Penalty Court No. 1 of Karsiyaka, Izmir, against the police man who had murdered Baran Tursun in Izmir has finally ended. Murderer police man Oral Emre Atar was sentenced to 2 years and 1 month of prison accused of "having killed a person imprudently". 10 other police men, who had been accused of concealing proofs, were acquitted. Murderer police men Oral Emre Atar had defended himself earlier by saying "my weapon fell on the floor and gave a shot by accident".
After Baran Tursun had been murdered, his father Mehmet Tursun made a statement in the family's name saying that they couldn't "believe in justice". The family has shown effort to gather families whose sons or daughters had been murdered by the police. The family of Batan Tursun had demanded to convict the murderer police man on the basis of "having killed a person on purpose".
