US president Obama's visit to Ankara on April 6 led to many protests all over the country, first of all in Istanbul and Ankara. {divide}

Different political parties, platforms and unions, among them DTP , SDP , ESP , TMMOB and IHD , gathered on April 6 at Sakarya Street, Ankara, welcomed Obama chanting the slogans "Yankee go home" and "Murderer USA, get out of the Middle East". In a statement made the following was said: "Obama's visit to Turkey won't be in favour of the labourers in Turkey and people of the region. The imperialists' new plans will intensify the poverty the people are living"- The statement ended with with the promise to strengthen the struggle against the war and poverty politics.
In Istanbul members of Greenpeace realised an action at Bogazici Bridge. The activists opened a banner in English, Turkish and Arabic saying "Safe the climate for peace".
Izmir ESP organised an action at Kemeralti. In a statement made it was said that it is no coincidence that Obama's visit came right after the NATO summit and that the aggression of NATO will grow. Ege and Dokuz Eylul University students organised an action to protest Obama, too.
In Istanbul ESP activists chained themselves at Besiktas Square, The activists opening a banner on which it said "Obama get lost" and condemning the US president were arrested.
On April 7, different organisations, platforms and unions, among them Partizan, EHP , Halkevleri , ESP and Halk Cephesi, marched from Galatasaray Square to Taksim, Istanbul. The mass opened a banner saying "Obama, the new president of the US and the enemy of the people of the world, your hands are in blood, too. Get out of our country". In a statement made it was said that Obama was welcomed by the oppressed with the slogan "Murderer, get lost" just as he deserved. The statement said: "All US presidents that sat down at the US presidents' chair let the blood of the people flow wherever they went". At the action the mass chanted the slogans "The imperialists will be beaten, the resisting people will win" and carried the posters on which it said "Obama, go home".
