Ozgur Radio and Democratic Radio which had been raided in September 2006 in a big operation were again raided by the police in the morning hours of February 4. The bookkeepers of Ozgur Radio Mine Ozalp and Metin Ozalp as well as Sinan Gercek, employee of the advertisement agency Gulumse Ajans were arrested at home and taken to the anti-terror unit. The arrests were carried out on a basis of an inquiry started against them ordered by the 12th Heavy Penalty Court of Istanbul.{divide}
In Izmir, Nadire Gurbuz, chief coordinator of Democratic Radio, was arrested in the morning hours at her house, too. Gurbuz was first taken to the anti-terror unit in Izmir and then transferred to Istanbul. Following the raids on her house, a hard disc, a PC and a laptop were confiscated.
On the same day Ozgur Radio and Democratic Radio made a written statement protesting the arrests. In these statements it said that the files once again have not been submitted to the lawyers or the arrested so that the content is unknown.
On February 5, Democrat Radio in Izmir organised a pres meeting at the CHD. In the statement made in the name of the radio, it was said that until today there have been many raids on the radio, but that it always continued to broadcast democratically. The statement was supported by a large number of revolutionary and democratic organisations the radio protested against the decision of a warrant, which was the reason for the arrest of its chief coordinator Nadire Gurbuz. On the same day, Ozgur Radio organised a press meeting at IHD protesting the oppression against itself and demanded the immediate release of its employees.
