Workers of Selga Textile Factory located at Sultanciftligi, Istanbul, started a resistance on January 21 when the bosses didn't pay their salaries they were entitled to. Selga textile workers had stopped production in December 2008 to get their 2,5 months salary and overtime premium and ended their resistance with success. This time, too, the workers' resistance is guided by Textil-Sen. {divide}In the night of January 29, the workers were attacked by the police with pepper gas when they wanted to hinder the bosses to transfer their machines to another place. Many workers were injured in the attack. 17 workers, among them Tekstil-Sen General Secretary and Tekstil-Sen members were punched and arrested.
On January 30, an action was organised in front of Gazi osmanpasa Court to protest against the arrest of the workers and unionists. The textile workers and families were shouting the slogans "Release the workers and "We are no slaves but workers" and demanded the immediate release of the arrested.
