A man who was taking photos of students at ODTU on January 19 was exposed by the students as a member of JITEM . When the students started to insistently question the soldier who with his clothes appeared as a civilian, he claimed to work in the canteen. However, the canteen workers declared that the man has nothing to do with them. {divide} When searching the secret service agent, the students found two different ID cards, one in the name of Sehmus Celik, member of Ankara Chamber of Commerce, and a military document in the name of specialist sergeant Suat Yilmaz, issued by the deputy commander of the gendarmerie and colonel Ibrahim Ertas. The students also checked the mobile phone of the man discovering that he had saved many photos of students and numbers of soldiers. Before handing over the man to the gendarmerie who had immediately come to school, the students kept a record which was signed by the deputy of the rectorship's general secretary Tanju Mehmetoglu. After handing over the JITEM member to the gendarmerie, the students marched until the gendarmerie station located at the campus and showed their anger.
On January 22, the students organised an action at the canteen drawing attention to the collaboration of the headmaster with JITEM and protested against the rectorship allowing JITEM to watch the students. On January 25, JITEM admitted the man to be its own agent and it was announced that he had walked around in the school with permission by the public prosecutor. It was also said that the gendarmerie made a report against its soldier for the crimes "to have been exposed and have used a stolen ID card."
