Attacks on students at Ankara University

On January 21, 2009 democratic students of Ankara University once again had to face fascist attacks. Following the clashes at the canteen, the gendarmerie came to the university defending the fascists. The anti-fascist students left the university as a group and marched until Yuksel Street. {divide}The students organised an action on the clashes and carried the banner read "Say get lost to the police fascists and administration".
On January 22, antifascist students who wanted to enter the Faculty of Language, History and Geography were forced by the police to make them check their identity. When the students rejected, the police started to stress and threatened the students with their guns. Then clashes started between the police and students. It was said that as a result of the police attacks, some students were injured and arrested. Different organisations, among them the ESP , IHD and Egitim-Sen , organised an action together with the students protesting against the attacks.
