The Coordination for the Life of Erol Zavar organised a solidarity event in the evening of November 28 in Istanbul. Erol Zavar is a revolutionary prisoner imprisoned in the F type prison Sincan sentenced to life imprisonment because of "having tried to change the constitutional order by force" who suffers from bladder cancer. In spite of 15 operations in four years, migraine attacks and asthma he is detained in conditions of severe isolation. The campaign for his freedom started already in 2004, however in spite of his state of health getting more and more critical, the responsible authorities did not undertake any step until now. He does not receive the necessary medical treatment but is still in solitary confinement.{divide}
200 people gathered now at a cultural event demanding his freedom. At the event his wife Elif Zavar held a speech informing about the violations of the rights of the political prisoners and underling the importance of solidarity. She also called for a united struggle against the oppression and torture in the prisons.
Erol Zavar sent a message to the solidarity event saying that the campaign which was started to free him could not be considered successful when only he will be freed, but only if it unites with the struggle against the F type prisons and the revolutionary struggle. The participants answered his message shouting slogans like "Erol Zavar is not alone" and "The isolation cells will be smashed from inside and outside".
