The Ergenekon trial is a reflection of reconciliation between the government and the general staff to liquidate those forces within the counter-guerrilla that have got out of control, started to insist on realising their own interests and plans and demands their own parts.

The Ergenekon case that has been on the agenda of our country for months has been started on October 20 at a court specially made at the Penalty and Execution Campus of Silivri. This trial is led by the 13th Heavy Penalty Court of Istanbul.
Altogether 86 people, 46 out of them already imprisoned, are charged in this trial. The culprits are from different fronts of fascism, from JITEM to the racist, fascist Labour Party, from the MHP to the Republic newspaper. Among the main defendants there are the retired brigadier general Veli Kucuk who is also one of the founders of JITEM, the general president of the Labour Party Dogu Perincek, the editor of the Republic newspaper Ilhan Selcuk and the former rector of Istanbul University Kemal Yalcin Alemdaroglu.
While the first hearing passed with checking the personal data as expected, the demand of the lawyers to postpone the hearing on grounds of insufficient conditions of the court was rejected. Another outstanding point of this trial, that has been prepared for months and presented to the media in a glorious way, was the fact that the secret defendant was listened to when sitting in a separate room and his voice changed, and that that there are no conditions for neither the defendants nor the lawyers to control this situation. This is an act belonging to the different anti-democratic implementations that will be used in future in fact against revolutionary organisations and that has been introduced with the example of the Ergenekon case. The Human Rights Association ( IHD ), the Association of Modern Lawyers, MPs of the DTP , Diyarbakir bar council as well as the mayor of Diyarbakir Osman Baydemir, Dicle Anter, son of the Kurdish intellectual murdered through extra-judicial killings by JITEM, Pervin Buldan, wife of the Kurdish businessman Savas Buldan killed in the same way, Yakup Tanis and Ata Deniz, the relatives of the Kurdish patriotics Serdar Tanis and Ebubekir Deniz who had been arrested and forced disappeared, applied to join the action. Their requests, however, were rejected.
While the court was crowded with the bourgeois press and preparations had been made for days, outside there were the fascists affiliated to the Labour Party gathering in front of court to show solidarity with the defendants of the Ergenekon case on the one hand, and on the other hand there were the revolutionary, democratic and Kurdish patriotic forces demanding an account from the Ergenekon murderers and the state.
The DTP MPs, IHD, ESP , DTP, SDP , EHP , EKD , YAKAY-DER , SGD , intellectuals and artists gathered in front of Silivri Campus to expose the counter-guerrilla state with the example of Ergenekon and to raise their demand to find the responsible forces for the forces disappeared and extra-judicial killings. In the action joined by a great mass of ESP activists, the demand to disperse the counter-guerrilla was raised and it was stressed that it is the people who must demand an account from the counter-guerrilla organisation Ergenekon. It was also said that the people must watch this trial. Mehmet Guneysel, witness of the massacre of Gazi , Husniye Ocak Acar, sister of the forces disappeared Hasan Ocak, Ayse Yumli Yeter, wife of the secretary of education of Limter-Is Suleyman Yeter killed under arrest, Mukkades Celik, wife of Irfan Celik who had been killed during the period of September 12 in prison, and relatives of Musa Anter, Savas Buldan, Serdar Tanis and Ebubekir Deniz.
The truth that was also reflected in the first hearings is that the Ergenekon case is far away from really dealing with the conviction of the putschists and counter-guerrilla activists, the contrary of what is displayed by the bourgeois press. With this fake trial serving to strengthen the image of the government, it is tried to bring those parts of the counter-guerrilla that got out of the control of the state into line again, by giving the impression to the masses that an account is demanded for these crimes, it is tried to acquit the main responsible forces for the dirty war that are not in the dock in Silivri but sitting at the officials' seats. This is clearly proved by the fact that innumerable mass massacres and political assassinations, of whom it is openly known that they had been realised by the counter-guerrilla and organised by JITEM, are not discussed in the indictment and not even mentioned in conjunction with the trial. And in addition, not even a single victim of the counter-guerrilla's crimes such as the dirty war, forces disappearance, torture, mass massacres was accepted to join the action, all demands were rejected.
The testimonies and speeches of the accused that were totally different from each other and contradicting from time to time instead of being an entirety showed that Ergenekon is not consisting of a unique will of top leaders and militants but rather of a state organised as an entire counter-guerrilla organisation consisting of different groups such as from the Labour Party to the Republic newspaper, from rectors to generals doing the state's subcontract work in this or that way.
The Ergenekon trial is a reflection of reconciliation between the government and the general staff to liquidate those forces within the counter-guerrilla that have got out of control, started to insist on realising their own interests and plans and demands their own parts. The counter-guerrilla that became symbolized with the name Ergenekon is not a part of the state but the state itself. The counter-guerrilla apparatus of fascism can' t be convicted by the courts of fascism but only by the working class and the labourers.
