The sit-in that was wanted to be realised by the DTP Istanbul on November 2 at Taksim, Istanbul in order to support the mass sit-in at Amed was brutally attacked and hindered by the police. After the governor of Istanbul announced to have banned the sit-in of the DTP, the police blockaded Taksim and the quarter in an abnormal way yet in the morning. In Istanbul the central and local offices of the DTP were blockaded, too. The police asked for passports at Taksim and arrested anyone looking suspicious. Many people who wanted to go the DTP central office were arrested. Those leaving the DTP office to organise an action at Taksim Square were attacked by the police with gas bombs and truncheons. Here, 27 people, among them DTP head of Istanbul Halis Aksoy were arrested. Some groups of the mass went to the side streets and clashed with the police for a long time. The police arrested around 100 people.
The police banning any action at Taksim did as well not allow the labourer women organised at the Istanbul branches of union Egitim-Sen to make an action at Taksim Tram Station which was titled „Children must be saved from any abuse, negligence and exploitation.
The ESP published a written statement protesting against the prevention of the DTP's sit-in by state terror and the blockade by the police at Taksim.
