The police attacked the funeral of Ahmet Ozkan who had been shot dead by the police during the protests organised by the DTP on October 20 against the physical attacks on the PKK leader Abdullah Ocalan behind bars in solitary confinement at Imrali Prison. After the actions happening in many cities of Turkey and Northern Kurdistan, the police had attacked the actions at province of Dogubeyazit, Agri, with bombs, tanks and arms and killed 20-year-old Ahmet Ozkan. {divide}
The funeral of Ahmet Ozkan took place on October 22 at Dogubeyazit with masses participating, and the police brutally attacked this action, too. Ramazan Aktas was run over by a police tank and became severely injured. Tens of thousands joined the funeral joined the funeral carrying the banner read "Long live the PKK, long live Kurdistan" in Kurdish and yellow, red and green flags and shouting the slogans "Murderer Erdogan" and "Revenge". At the funeral DTP MP Fatma Kurtalan held a speech emphasizing: "This will neither be our first nor our last martyr." She said that the Kurdish people will show their rage as long as the oppression continues at Imrali. After the attacks by the police, clashes extended to the side streets and lasted for hours.
