The Ergenekon trial, that has been started at Silivri by the 13th Heavy Penalty Court of Istanbul on October 20 and where 86 people, 46 of them already imprisoned, are going to be convicted, was postponed to October 23 shortly after it began. Many relatives of the imprisoned as well as media observed the trial during which the detention of the imprisoned was decided to be continued. {divide}
During the trial many democratic, progressive and revolutionary organisations, platforms and parties, such as YAKAY-DER , SDP , EHP , IHD , SGD , ESP, SDP, DTP and EKD , as well as many intellectuals, artists, lawyers and relatives of disappeared gathered in front of the prison where the trial was taking place and organised an action. The mass demanded the conviction of the offenders and justice as well as the dispersion of the counter-guerrilla. The ESP activists shouted the slogans "Yasar Buyukanit, Tansu Ciller and Mehmet Agar must be convicted" and "The 1000 operations must be clarified, the offenders must be convicted" and opened the banner read "Dispersion of the counter-guerrilla, conviction of the dirty war barons". Istanbul ESP representative Figen Yuksekdag said in the speech she hold in the name of the mass that the Ergenekon trial is a fake trial and pointed out that the massacres such as in Sivas, Gazi and Maras organised by the counter-guerrilla are not mentioned in the indictment. She called on the people to be attentive and observe the trial. Relatives of the disappeared as well as DTP deputies made speeches and promised to continue with the struggle for the conviction of the murderers until the end.
