Workers’ and students’ boycott ended with success

The boycott started by Ankara University students after canteen workers of Tadal Catering had been dismissed ended with a victory when the demands of the workers were all accepted on October 12. When this example of solidarity started at Cebeci Campus joined by nearly 100% of all students spread out to the other faculties and grew, the rector's office had to step backwards approving the workers` demands and said that all workers dismissed will be re-employed. {divide}
During the boycott the students had hang up posters calling on to join the boycott, distributed leaflets and offered alternative food. Besides the students, other canteen workers stopped their work to show solidarity with their colleagues dismissed. The workers who had not been paid for two months were dismissed also of because having struggled to become members of a union. Yet on the first day of the boycott, they were paid for one month. Qualified and healthy food as well as not being able to be forced to work more than the normal working time of 45 hours are also among the demands accepted.
