The 8th Munzur Cultural and Nature Festival organised at the city of Dersim, Northern Kurdistan, ended with a march organised on August 4. Thousands of people marched from the city centre to the river Munzur and raised their voice against the dam project that wants to be realised at this river. They also demanded the Valley of Munzur to be proclaimed as a natural reserve. {divide}
At the action joined by many organisations including the DTP , ESP , IHD and KESK , a 50 metres long banner was opened read "Munzur will flow freely". The mass shouted slogans such as "We don't want dams at Munzur", "Munzur resists, Hasankeyf resists", "We don't want gold with potassium cyanide at Munzur", "We don't want mines at Dersim" and "Rio tinto nalet şerê to" in Kurdish and blockaded the march route as well as the bridge at Dikilitas.
