Attorney demands 15 years sentence for Ferhat Gercek

The indictment has been announced for the trial against 17-year-old Ferhat Gercek, who was fired by the police on his back while he was selling the revolutionary magazine Yuruyus in Yenibosna/Istanbul and had become paralysed as a result of the attack. After that, a proceeding was opened against Gercek and 4 more members of the Association for Basic Rights and Freedoms with the accusation that they had "violated the Law about Demonstrations and Meetings", "had resisted against the policemen who were carrying out their duty", "had insulted at the policemen for having done their duty" and "had harmed qualified property". The Attorney demands 15 years and 4 months sentence for each.

The policemen who had wounded Gercek were not even interrogated for a long time and after that, a legal proceeding was opened with the demand of 9 years sentence. In the ballistic report, it was confirmed that Gercek was wounded mortally with the bullets of the policemen Can Kocbulbul and Emre Taskin.
The Federation for Basic Rights and Freedoms made an action at Ornektepe on July 24 demanding the arrest of the policemen who disabled Ferhat Gercek. The members of the Federation opened a banner written "the policemen who fired at Ferhat Gercek have not been arrested until now" and mentioned the other cases where the demand of justice was not fulfilled.
