Trial against Genc-Sen to ban the union

The first hearing of the trial that had been started against the Genc-Sen to ban the union took place on July 10 at the 6th industrial tribunal of Sirkeci Court, Istanbul. Genc-Sen members from different cities gathered in front of the court to protest the decision of banning the union and declared that they will never give up their right of having a union by shouting slogans and singing songs. Different unions such as DISK and Limter-Is joined the action and supported the youth. In a statement made in the name of Genc-Sen it was explained that the students` union had been founded to fight against the problems of youth including education and that this can't be changed with a decision of the court. The next hearing of the trial will be on September 24.
The union Genc-Sen had been founded in December 2007 in Ankara together with the decision of 700 students and has adopted an own statute and manifesto.
