After joining the Tuzla strike on 16 June, the worker Niyazi Tepeli was fired on 17 June from the outsourcing enterprise Umut Gemi, which operates at RMK Dockyard. At the written pretext of the dismissal, the following was stated: "It has been proved that you carry out organisational work among the workers beginning from the fist day that you started to work here" and "You have expressed to the foreman that you would join the illegal action on 16 June 2008".
Tepeli started a resistance in front of the dockyard on the 18th of June in the morning with the support of the trade union Limter-Is . He finalised his action on 21 June through a press meeting together with the leaders of the trade union and 50 workers, who came to support him. One of the leaders of Limter-Is spoke at the meeting and stated that the dismissal of Tepeli is an expression of the arbitrariness of the outsourcing system and of the fact that this system is a great obstacle for the organisation of the workers at trade unions. At the meeting, it was stressed that the struggle will continue for the reemployment of Tepeli and for the approval of the legitimate demands of the dockyard workers.
