On April 13 the members of the ESP organised a visit of the people of the Istanbul quarter Basibuyuk who are fighting against the demolition of their houses.
The ESP activists came from different quarters of Istanbul by vehicles and faced the police trying to hindering them. In order to stop the ESP activists, the police had decided to search all vehicles on the E5 between 1 and 5 pm. Police troops were deployed at the entrance of the quarter whose population was threatened by them. The buses with the activists were stopped here and arbitrarily searched. 37 ESP activists were arrested.
Despite these efforts of the police, the solidarity action could not be hindered. The activists marched with their banner read "The right of accommodation can not be hindered" to the resistance plant of the Basibuyuk people. In the speeches held during the visit supported also by the Coordination of the labourer People against Demolition and the Association of Labourer Women it was reminded that in many quarters resistance has been developed against demolition and that the resistance at Basibuyuk will not remain unsupported.
The visit was finished with slogans and applause.
