On April 12 members of the union Egitim-sen went on the streets in 5 cities to protest against the draft law of the Social Insurance and General Health Insurance as well as against the abolition of rights.
In Adana 4000 labourers gathered for a rally at Ugur Mumcu Square coming from the cities Adana, Hatay, Mersin, Maras and Antep. The Aktion was also supported by revolutionary organisations such as the ESP , HOC and Partizan and by different unions.
The organisational committee of the rally held a speech in which it said: „We have gathered here to show that we will watch our demand for free education, free health treatment and a secure future and to say no to reaction."
In Izmir labourers from Manisa, Aydin, Canakkale, Balikesir and Afyon joined the rally at Gundogdu Square and shouted slogans such as „General strike, general resistance", „Workers, officials, youth, we are united on the squares" and „We don´t want to become pensioners yet in grave."
In the region of the Black Sea the labourers gathered for a rally in Samsun, while in Kurdistan 5000 labourers joined the rally in Van. At the actions the following was emphasized: „ The actions of the gangs as well as the gangs that operated in Susurluk, Semdinli and Yuksekova have not been questioned until the end has growns and appeared yet another time in form of the gang Ergenekon ."
