A first students union with the title " Genc-Sen " was found in Turkey. Gen-Sen, which is affiliated to DISK , was officially founded on December 15-16 at Ankara when gathering its general assembly after 1,5 years of preparations. The general assembly was attended by 700 students from nearly 30 universities and experienced vivid discussions. Finally, the statute and manifesto were defined.
The organisational structure of the union, that calls on the university and college students with the slogan "You will never walk alone", was decided by the students appropriate to its aims and principles: After the foundation of Genc-Sen, union branches as well as faculties and department councils will be opened at all universities in the country. These councils will have the right to take any decisions. The proportion of female students working in the councils must be at least 40%. There will also be no system of presidency and the focus will be on the student youth's collective mechanism. College youth will be organised at a separate platform within Genc-Sen.

Scientific, free education in the mother tongue!

esides the demand of the student youth for scientific, free education in the mother tongue, Genc-Sen will actively fight against the unemployment of the youth despite having a degree and graduating from a university. The students demanded the "right to speak, direct and decide".
In the discussion part on the aims and principles the students named "a human life" as the first point. The students clearly pointed out to defend the economical, social and cultural rights that have a deep impact on their life and education. The young students also decided to lead a fight against privatisation so that education will be not for the capital's interests, but for the need and development of society. According to its aims which state that people must live in peace and brotherhood, the youth will also fight against imperialism and neo-liberal policies and for everyone's right on equal education. Among the demands the students additionally listed free transport service for students, free entrance to cultural events such as cinemas and theatre, free health service, and end of unpaid employment of students under the name of "work placement", the abolition of exams such as LGS, ÖSS, KPSS and LES, the possibility for everyone to study according to talent and interest for free, equal conditions for all students to have access to education, positive discrimination to women against the sexist characteristics of education and the abolition of YOK .
