Massacre in the prisons of December 19 protested

On the anniversary of the massacre in the prisons on December 19, 2000, where 20 prisons had been attacked, 28 revolutionary prisoners had been killed and the revolutionary prisoners transferred to the f type isolation prisons, revolutionary and democratic organisations condemned the massacre with an action in front of Bayrampasa prison, Istanbul.
Members of the Istanbul branch of the Human Rights Association who had declared December 19 as the "Day of Solidarity with the Prisons" gathered on this day in front of Bayrampasa prison. At the action, the members emphasized that violations of rights continue in the isolation prisons and demanded the cancellation of the isolation conditions. After the action, carnations were laid down in front of the prison entrance. Subsequently, TUYAB (Solidarity League of the Prisoners' Families) organised an action. TUYAB members opened a banner read "No to solitary confinement" and "We have not forgotten December 19, and we will not forget it" and hold a minute of silence for the revolutionaries who had lost their life in the massacre. The action continued with the singing of marshes and the demand of charging those responsible for the massacre.
After the action of TUYAB, TAYAD (Solidarity Association of the Prisoners` Families) gathered in front of Bayrampasa prison. TAYAD members carried posters on which it said "They were burnt alive" that emphasized that six female prisoners had been burnt alive in the prison of Bayrampasa. The TAYAD members demanded the responsible forces for the massacre to be charges and human conditions in the prisons.
On December 18, TUYAB members organised an action at Galatasaray Square and subsequently sent solidarity cards to the revolutionary prisoners. Two TUYAB members were arrested following the claim for allegedly shouting the slogan "The murderer state will render account".
In Ankara different organisations and newspapers such as Alinteri, B DSP , DHP, ESP , EHP, Kaldirac, Odak, Partizan, TÜM-İGD, Kurtulus and The Association of the Revolutionary of the 78'ies marched to Ulucanlar Prison. After an action in front of the prison, the mass visited the graves of İrfan Ortakci, Cafer Tayar Bektas and Ali İhsan Özkan who had died in the massacre on December 19, 2000. HOC organised a separate action in front of Ulucanlar Prison. In Mersin, Antep, Hatay and Malatya actions were organised, too, to protest against the massacre of December 10.
