General Assembly of Genc-Sen hold

On December 15, the student union Genc-Sen hold its general assembly at the Congress and Cultural Centre of the university ODTU, Ankara. Nearly 700 students from 30 universities joined the meeting where the constitution and manifesto were defined. Especially during the part of the discussions on the constitution, vivid discussions were made on the structure of Gen-Sen. It was then decided that the college students should be organised separately within the union, that branches of the union will be founded at every university and that councils are formed at the departments and faculties that will fulfil the duties of the union branches. These councils shall work together in accordance with the university executive commitee and the city coordination. Since the union has no system of presidency, the initiative of the basis is focused on. With the decision that there must be a minimum of 40% women in the central and branch executive committees, Genc-Sen has undertaken a unique step.
In the manifesto of Genc-Sen there are demands such as equal, free, scientific education in the mother tongue, the cancellation of YOK by which education will be made free and democratic, as well as the right of freedom of speech, authorisation and decision for the students.
The general assembly finished with the election of the central executive committee.
