The HPG took 8 soldiers hostage

The Turkish army forces that prepare themselves for a cross-border operation were heavily attacked by the forces of the HPG (People Defense Forces). On October 21, 35 soldiers were killed and 8 soldiers were taken hostage in a clash that took place next to the village Daglica of the province Yuksekova, Hakkari, HPG sources reported.

The general staff first did not achknowledge the hostage-taking of the soldiers until the names and later pictures of the soldiers were published. It was said that thesoldiers were in a good state of health.

In a statement made by the headquarters command of the HPG the following was said: "On October 21 the Turkish army tried to enter South Kurdistan from the region Oremar in the province Yuksekova, Hakkari, passing the villages Suke, Ertis, Satunis, Sate and Stune. However, the Turkish army had to face attacks by our guerilla that strove them back."

The names of the soldiers taken as hostage were published as follows: Ramazan Yuce (from Mardin, infantryman), İrfan Beyaz (from Antep, soldier), Mehmet Senkul (from Nigde, Sergeant), Nihat Basova (from Konya/Cihanbeyli, soldier), Ilhami Demir (from Agri/Patnos, soldier), Fatih Atakul (from Denizli, soldier), Halis Tan (from Adana, Special Sergeant) and Orhan Sabanoglu.
