After the changes made on the Police Responsibility and Authority Law, police terror increases in the labourer boroughs.
On September 7 the police attacked the members of HOC (Front for Rights and Freedoms) who were selling the magazine Yuruyus in the Istanbul borough Yenibosna. When the HOC members resisted against the attack, 16-year-old HOC activist Ferhat Gercek was heavily injured due to a shot in his back. Gercek was taken to hospital by ambulance. During the attack the other revolutionary forces in the borough started a resistance together with the HOC members and established barricades in the quarter. After the clashes the police raided the Association of Basic Rights and Freedoms in Yenibosna. 14 people were arrested during the clashes and the raids and were released on October 8. On October 9, HOC organised an action at Taksim Tram Station protesting against the police terror. The activists opened a banner saying "Ferhat Gercek was shot during the sale of our magazine. Stop the police terror" and shouted the slogans "Yuruyus can not be silenced" and "Those who shot Ferhat Gercek must be charged". The action was supported by ESP , B DSP and SDP .
