The trial against the factory owner who is charged because of a fire at his factory Ozay in Bursa in 2005 which had killed 5 female workers has finished. The sentence of 10 years behind bars given by the 4th Heavy Penalty Court of Bursa was changed into penalty. The fire had killed the female workers Ayse Denizdalan (15), Sadife Düdüs (18), Gulden Cicek (21), Necla Ozveren (27) and three months pregnant Sevgi Sesli (32). Women organisations organised actions and protested against this decision. In Bursa the Socialist Platform of the Oppressed ( ESP ) and the Labourer Women`s Association ( EKD ) organised an action at Osmangazi Metro Station on the evening of September 29 and opened the banner saying "We have not forgotten the 5 female workers and we will not let them be forgotten!". The women said that the boss of Ozay Textile got a sentence that is like an award and stressed that they condemn the decision. In a statement made it was said: "Although nights shifts are forbidden for pregnant workers, Sevgi Sesli had to do a night shift. And again, although night shifts are also forbidden for under 18 years old, Ayse Denizdalan and Sadife Dudus had to do a 16 hour shift. And in addition, the entrance was locked to prevent the workers stop working and leave the factory." The women also stressed that all workers of the factory worked without any insurance, but the factory has an insurance of 4 million TRY. At the action, the female wokers of Novamed that have lead a resistance for one year now were also saluted. On September 30 EKD, Imece Women`s Cooperative, Amargi, Democratic Women`s Movement, Women of the trade union KESK , SDP , EHB and EMEP gathered at Galatasaray Square and said: "We were burned in Bursa, we were let drowned in Ceylanpinar, but we have resist at Novamed." The women organisations made a statement in which they emphasized the life and working conditions of the female workers and demanded the Ozay textile factory boss Lokman Ozay to be charged again. On the same day EKD and Textil-Sen organised an action together at Kadikoy Iskele Square. At the action it was said " As long as capitalism continues to kill and be awarded , we women will continue to raise our voice". The women shouted the slogans "Stop the sexual, national and class based exploitation".
