Buyukanit: The memorandum of April 12 is still valid

Chief of the Turkish general staff Yasar Buyukanit declared that his statement of July 12, which has been considered as a memorandum, is still valid. In his memorandum, he had explained: "Dependent on the ideal of being a secular, democratic and social constitutional state and on the unitary structure of the state, not just in words but in practice, too."
By saying "The Turkish Armed Forces` views do not change daily. We still defend our statement from April 12.", Buyukanit expressed that the memorandum is still valid.
As known, the army and the government got into a conflict because of the presidential elections and the army issued a memorandum on April 12 and threatened the AKP to prevent that the president is going to be elected from their ranks.
